NORDLYD 2026

NORDLYD – A Nordic Meeting of Young Musicians

Sandnes kulturskole has the great pleasure of hosting NORDLYD, a Nordic music collaboration project that will take place in week 9, 2026, at Sandnes kulturskole, Vågen.

NORDLYD brings together approximately 100 advanced young musicians from Greenland, Iceland, Denmark, and Norway for an intensive and inspiring week of music-making. The project is built around collaboration across borders, musical traditions, and genres, and offers students a unique opportunity to work closely with peers and teachers from across the Nordic region.

Throughout the project week, students will participate in rehearsals, workshops, and ensemble work that combine classical instruments, rhythmic ensembles, choir, and improvisation. The musical material is developed specifically for this project and draws inspiration from shared Nordic musical heritage, while also embracing contemporary expression and creative collaboration. A special emphasis is placed on listening, interaction, and learning from one another across different musical backgrounds.

The week will culminate in a public performance, where students present the full NORDLYD suite — a collective artistic result shaped through intensive work, curiosity, and shared ownership of the music.

Beyond the artistic outcome, NORDLYD is about building connections. It is a meeting place where young musicians gain new perspectives, strengthen their artistic identity, and experience the value of Nordic cooperation in practice.

Sandnes kulturskole is proud to welcome students and teachers from across the Nordic countries to Vågen and to create the framework for a project that combines high artistic quality, learning, and community.
